Acupuncture is an insertion of needles into the body at specific points which are effective in the treatment of specific health problems. There are more than a thousand known acupuncture points in the body and they have been used in Asia for over two thousand years.
Acupuncture needles are very fine, like a hair, and insertion is often painless.
Based on the traditional Asian theories, there is a flow of Qi through the channels covering the entire body. Qi nourishes and constructs the body and it is like the nerves and blood vessels except that Qi is invisible to human eyes. Acupuncture therefore adjusts the flow of qi in the body, leading it to areas where it is insufficient and draining from areas where it is stuck or superabundant. Acupuncture restores the harmonious balance of the body and its part.
Acupuncture is very safe when performed by trained licensed acupuncturist. In California, acupuncturists are required to use sterile disposable needles to avoid infection or contagion.
WHO, The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture is effective for over 40 common disorders.
It depends on the individual’s condition. A series of 5 to 10 treatment may resolve many chronic problems.
To maximize the effect of acupuncture, wear loose clothing, eat a small meal, and do not drink any alcohol.
